Hardwick House B&B offers a warm and distinctive stay in the vibrant South Yorkshire city of Sheffield. Ideally located for those keen to explore the city's many attractions, shops, restaurants and cultural offerings, the house is just two miles southwest of the city centre. The B&B sits peacefully on a quiet residential cul-de-sac with convenient on-street parking, providing guests with a welcome retreat after a day of exploring.
With just three guest bedrooms, the atmosphere at Hardwick House is personal and relaxed. Each room is centrally heated and comes with its own bathroom, television and tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms are all individually styled, each with its own character and charm.
Bedroom 1, known as the "Victorian Gentleman's Room," is a nostalgic nod to another era. It features a gothic-style bed, a cast iron fireplace cleverly disguised as a gas fire and stunning views that, on a clear day, stretch for miles across the city. The room remains comfortably warm thanks to Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk gentle heat piped up from the Aga below. Double doors lead into a small but characterful bathroom, complete with a large cast iron bath, a high flush toilet and portraits of some rather serious-looking ancestors from the host’s wife’s side of the family.
Bedroom 2 is affectionately called the "Swedish Room," a modern and minimal space that plays on the name of a certain well-known furniture brand. Finished in beech wood, chrome and low-voltage lighting, this room also offers expansive city views. The adjoining bathroom features a walk-in shower and WC, fully clad in Chinese slate, adding a contemporary touch.
Bedroom 3 is the twin-bedded "French Fin de Siècle Room," it is a lighter, more romantic space decorated with faded gilt details and Toile de Jouy fabric. A large south-facing bay window fills the room with sunlight and a small door leads to a spacious bathroom and dressing room. The views from the bath stretch across the valley toward Ranmoor and the university halls of residence, thankfully, it’s a one-way view.
Breakfast is a particularly memorable experience at Hardwick House. Served in a large, quirky kitchen-dining area, the space is about 9 by 4.5 metres and warmed year-round by the ever-faithful Aga. French doors open onto a balcony that overlooks a surprisingly large garden, home to a few hens that are there for eggs and companionship rather than the pot. Morning sun fills the room, highlighting its cheerful mix of wood and bright colours. The ambiance is unique, unpretentious and entirely original.
Whether you're in Sheffield for work, sightseeing, or simply a relaxing break, Hardwick House B&B offers a one-of-a-kind stay full of character, warmth and a touch of gentle humour.
