Waterwheel Guesthouse offers bed and breakfast accommodation in Ambleside, perfectly located in the heart of the Lake District. This luxury Ambleside B&B is set within a beautifully preserved Grade II listed whitewashed cottage, situated along a historic cobbled street with views of the tumbling waters of Stockghyll. With its idyllic setting and rich character, Waterwheel Guesthouse provides an ideal Lake District retreat, perfect for exploring Ambleside and the surrounding fells, lakes and attractions.

Stockghyll is on the first floor and enjoys views across the stream to the waterwheel and includes a bathroom with a roll-top bath Victorian-style high-level toilet. Rattleghyll is on the second floor and the bathroom has a bronze Imperium clawfoot bath to soak yourself in. A Victorian-style shower attachment with a shower curtain and riser rail are also available. Loughrigg is on the second floor has and includes a bathroom with a beautiful bath including a shower enclosure.
All the rooms include outstanding features: Farrow and Ball paintwork, Will Morris fabrics, quality bed linen and bedding, a flat-screen TV with Sky Cinema and Now TV, plus a generous welcome tray with coffee, tea and hot chocolate (Fair Trade) and biscuits. A sample of home-baked goods is usually available too. We even provide a crystal decanter with a splash of port inside, perfect for a special occasion.
In the morning, you can look forward to a delicious breakfast ahead of a day of sightseeing. The elegant dining room is a great place to savour a hearty cooked breakfast. Fresh-fruit salad, organic yoghurt, thick-cut toast and tea and coffee are available too.

This part of the country is a haven for outdoor lovers, with lots of scenic walking and cycling routes in the area, with the 214 Wainwright peaks right on our doorstep. Scafell Pike and Striding Edge on Helvellyn are great for hikers, whilst stunning Lake Windermere is only 5 minutes away from us. Attractions to visit include:
