The Crown Country Inn is situated in the heart of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering a warm welcome to both guests and their dogs. This charming country inn combines 2 AA Rosette award-winning food with comfortable, 4 Gold Star rated accommodation.
There are three king-size rooms available, each featuring a seating area, television, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Holdgate is a light and inviting room with a king-size bed and a cosy sofa area. It includes an en-suite shower room and comfortably accommodates two adults. The room showcases traditional period features, including a cruck-beam design that reflects the historical character of the building. Broncroft offers a similarly charming atmosphere, with a king-size bed, a comfortable seating area and an en-suite shower room. This room also features period architectural elements, such as cruck beams typical of the inn’s age. It is reached by ascending a staircase toward the back of the building, after which the room is found on the ground floor, situated below the Stokesay room. One well-behaved dog is welcome in Broncroft by prior arrangement.
Stokesay is a spacious room with a king-size bed and a sofa area, complemented by a beautiful en-suite bathroom. Like the other rooms, it retains traditional features, including the characteristic cruck-beam design. Stokesay is accessed via the same staircase as Holdgate and is located just opposite it.
Dining at The Crown Country Inn is a highlight in itself. The menu offers a well-crafted selection of both traditional and modern dishes, all freshly prepared to order using high-quality local produce. Chef proprietor Richard Arnold, a Master Chef of Great Britain, personally oversees the 2 AA Rosette menu, ensuring each dish meets the highest standards. The wine list is supplied by Ludlow Fine Wines and guests can enjoy local real ales and freshly made cocktails from the bar.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we are within easy travelling distance of many interesting towns including the small historic town of Much Wenlock (the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games), Craven Arms (ideally positioned for walking and cycling) and the market towns of Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury. Telford offers good shopping facilities as well. The Crown makes a perfect base to stop whilst enjoying sights such as the Ironbridge Gorge, Stokesay Castle, Ludlow Castle or the Severn Valley Railway.
