The Mansion was built around 1770 and belonged to the Wordsworth family, being the home for a while to the famous William Wordsworth. It has since been extended to include a further 6 en suite rooms and an indoor heated pool and sauna.
The house has splendid views over the historic coastal town of Whitehaven across The Solway Firth, Scotland and the Western fells of the Lake District complete the view to the East. We are only 10 minutes from St Bees beach which at low tide offers a fantastic sandy beach, local ice cream parlour, coffee shop and on clear days’ fantastic views of the Isle of Man.
The C2C cycle route starts just down the hill from us on Whitehaven Harbour, where you can find some great restaurants and bars with relaxing views across the marina. We have secure cycle storage and carry a small stock of essentials for that coast to coast trip.
We offer mostly double rooms which we can make up to twins or family rooms, we also have a family room with a lounge/bedroom and separate bedroom off it for the kids, we offer special rates for children under 10 and breakfast is included for everyone. As for breakfast, we have all you would expect. We can cater for most dietary requirements, all you need to do is let us know when you book.
