The Fox & Hounds Inn is nestled in a beautiful part of Cumbria and is a traditional Lakeland inn. We offer a comfortable and homely place to stay in Ennerdale Bridge near Cleator and are an ideal base for those looking to explore the Lake District National Park. The inn is in the centre of the village and less than 2 miles from Ennerdale Lake.
We have three guest rooms available, all of which have a comfortable and homely feel ensuring an enjoyable stay is had by all. We can accommodate solo travellers, couples, friends and families. Room amenities include:
En suite facilities.
Tea and coffee making facilities.
Hairdryer.
Wi-Fi internet access.
Complimentary toiletries.
Breakfast is included within the room rate and is cooked fresh to order. During the day and into the evening, we are open to both residents and non-residents and have worked hard to build a good reputation for our real ales, food and our friendly service. We pride ourselves on offering traditional home-made food which is made at the inn (except for the Vegan and Lakes Ice Cream). Our restaurant and bar menus are popular with our locals and we are happy to cater for food allergies and intolerances, please just advise when booking.
Dogs Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk are very welcome to come and stay with you or join you in the pub for a drink. Cumbria has more dogs per head of population than anywhere else in the UK we not only welcome dogs we actively encourage you to bring your dog with you. Dogs are welcome in all areas of our inn (except of course our kitchens).
Although located only 10 miles from the historic towns of Whitehaven and Cockermouth our valley location, lack of mobile phone signal and public transport, gives our village the impression of being extremely remote. This remoteness made us the ideal location to allow an area of the National Park to develop with minimal interference from man and farming. This area is known as Wild Ennerdale, with an open access policy to walkers. As the first stop on Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast route we welcome walkers and cyclists and are very family-friendly.
