Temple Croft provides excellent accommodation in Alston, one of the highest market towns in England, offering a superb base for exploring Cumbria. Located just 30 minutes from Ullswater and around an hour from the Lake District, our welcoming getaway is perfectly positioned for discovering some of the region’s most stunning landscapes.
Our characterful period house offers fantastic facilities for walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. With space for up to 21 guests, it’s an ideal choice for groups looking for comfortable, well-catered accommodation in a truly unique setting.
The bed and breakfast rooms all come with a range of facilities, including crisp white linen, tea and coffee-making facilities, a mini fridge, satellite TV and hair dryer.
Cherry Plum: Our double/twin room offers lots of original period features and enjoys views over the sunken garden to the town’s skyline. Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk Features include a beamed ceiling and original wooden shutters. There is a modern shower/WC facilities.
Yew Tree: This triple room offers lots of flexibility and can be configured as a super king plus 1 single or 3 single beds. There is a modern en suite bathroom with a rainfall shower and bathtub.
Laburnum: Our family room sleeps 4 people in a combination of zip-and-link divan and bunkbed. Features include original shutters and a beamed ceiling. There is a modern en suite shower room/WC.
We also offer accommodation in our Bunkhouse unisex dorm-style accommodation for up to eight people in adult-size bunk beds. The spacious bathroom includes a shower bath and a separate shower cubicle. Breakfast is optional. From £25 per person per night.
You can tuck into a delicious Cumbrian breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. We source our free-range eggs and meat locally. Evening meals can be provided.
Self catering accommodation is available in The Nookery which sleeps 4 and is dog friendly.
Outside we have a walled garden to relax in and there is a purpose-built dry/wet room.
Our bed and breakfast is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on both the C2C and Pennine Way long-distance routes. In town, there is a good choice of pubs, gift shops, cafes and grocery stores. Hadrian’s Wall is only 20 minutes away.
