The Ulbster Arms Hotel sits on the banks of the River Thurso, in the village of Halkirk. Originally built in 1878 as a family home, our hotel in Halkirk has 13 ensuite rooms, several of which overlook the River Thurso or the impressive stone-built Halkirk church and clock tower. In our main hotel building, you can enjoy traditional comforts, such as high-quality furniture and complimentary toiletries. Plus, tea/coffee-making facilities, which include locally baked biscuits. Choose between a bath or a shower in your ensuite. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and there is also free parking at the rear of the hotel.
Ulbster Lodge is located to the rear of the hotel, only a stone’s throw away from the main building. Of our three lodges, this is the most traditional. Think solid wood furniture, snug plaid throws and cottage-style windows. The three lodge bedrooms are decorated in keeping with the area in north Scotland, featuring thoughtful touches and attention to detail. The combination of the renovated stone-built barn and its modern extension offers a true haven in which to unwind.
Milton Lodge offers quality contemporary rooms in the grounds of our Caithness hotel. Milton Lodge is a spacious lodge with free parking right outside, so you won’t have far to carry your bags. It has four large ensuite double rooms and also a large communal lounge, which is only for the use of lodge guests.
Dale Lodge is located in the grounds of the Ulbster Arms Hotel, so guests can take a short stroll across the garden to enjoy meals or a drink in the hotel. This large holiday lodge offers nine fresh, modern ensuite bedrooms and free parking right outside the door. If you’re part of a larger party, you can choose to book the entire lodge. Alternatively, those who prefer a more modern environment than is on offer in the main hotel can book individual rooms within this lodge.
All of our rooms include a full Scottish breakfast & continental buffet.
At the Ulbster Arms Hotel and Lodges we offer several options for your dining experience. If you’re looking for relaxed or family-friendly dining, the Lounge Bar offers traditional comfort. Our restaurant, Beat 4, presents a formal yet relaxed setting. We also host occasional BBQs in the beer garden. You’re sure to have your appetite satisfied when you dine with us.
