McMurdoston House offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation near Auldgirth, between Dumfries & Thornhill in Dumfries & Galloway.
Our guest bedrooms – a king sized double and a comfortably furnished twin are decorated in contemporary style, yet also contain original Victorian fireplaces and snug lovingly restored window shutters. You’ll find ample supplies of tea and coffee making equipment, some local treats, a hairdryer, a bathrobe and lovely views.
A large family bathroom next door to the double room offers a generous bath, modern shower, plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries. A second private shower room is also available so that all our guests can enjoy private facilities.
McMurdoston is fully centrally heated and has numerous open fires and log-burners, but we’re aware some guests like full control of their climate Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk – for you chillier mortals, both rooms provide controllable radiators, hot water bottles and copious spare bedding, ensuring complete comfort, without the embarrassment of having to ask.
Breakfast is served between 7 and 9 a.m. starting with cereal and fresh fruit. Follow this with a platter of locally sourced Scottish fare or a lighter continental style meal, accompanied by a selection of teas, coffee and juices. You’ll eat in our atmospheric dining room or the light flooded hall, from which you’ll enjoy stunning views and which provides an ideal opportunity for bird watchers.
Guests have exclusive use of a comfortable sitting room with cosy wood burner. Here you can watch TV and play DVDs. Board games and puzzles are provided along with free Wi-Fi. Numerous reference books, leaflets and maps will enable you to look up any special finds or plan your next day’s trip.
