Ferniehirst Mill Lodge

Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, Scottish Borders

Facilities

Description

Ferniehirst Mill Lodge was built in 1980. Its modern design gives all the amenities required for your comfort whilst blending with the existing mill buildings and stables. The Lodge is 2.5 miles south of Jedburgh, situated in a secluded valley beside the Jed Water in its own 25 acres of land. It is a haven for bird life. The holiday accommodation consists of 8 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. All have tea/coffee making facilities. The spacious lounge overlooks the Jed Water.

The Scottish Borders, whilst providing a gateway to the rest of Scotland, also offers the visitor a great deal in its own right.

The Text taken from bandbstays.co.uk historic town of Jedburgh, situated midway between Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh, offers a variety of attractions. There is an abbey, founded in 1138 by David I, Mary Queen of Scots House, where she stayed in 1566, and Jedburgh Castle Jail Museum, built on the site of the original Jethart Castle. The town is centrally placed for touring the rest of the Borders and visiting the numerous historic houses, castles and abbeys in the area.

The miles of unspoilt open hills are sparsely populated and have changed little over the centuries. They provide a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life. It is beautiful walking countryside whether it be a leisurely stroll along the Roman Road, Dere Street, or walking the 62 1/2 miles of St. Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne.

The golf enthusiast has the choice of 19 golf courses in the Scottish Borders area. The angler is well catered for as well with salmon fishing on the river tweed, and sea and brown trout fishing on its tributaries. Horse riding for experienced, adult riders is available from my own stables.
